1st Goal Achieved!

Graduation day 2007

Our first goal has been accomplished. I'm so proud of you.

1/4 of the year officially over!

Can you believe that the year is 1/4 over already? Not that we want to rush through life, but I have to admit I am glad to see it go. I get 5 days off starting Friday and will use them as I see fit. I have not had a real vacation since I went to Colorado to visit my brother CJ. Deidra and I will use this weekend to do some serious spring cleaning and are having a garage sale to sell as much as we can. Time to simplify and prepare for the obvious. Its getting more exciting with every passing month. I can't believe we are in the final stages.

Less than a week to go!

At the awards ceremony last Thursday, Deidra was presented the Outstanding Student Award and was announced as the only student in the history of the award that got a unanimous vote for the award. She was also announced as possibly the only student in the field of the physical therapy asst. program as doing so with a full time job and a family. When the announcer told Taylor Rae and I to stand and be recognized while Deidra was on the podium, the kids looked about as proud as I have ever seen them. Deidra received this plaque from the program which will be on display in our office...when we make room for one.

Deidra has done very well so far with her finals last week and we only have half of next week to go. After that Deidra will be done with the college school part of her program and will then start working for her clinicals this summer. Her graduation ceremony is next week and we are looking forward to having more time to be with her as the last several years have been hard. Weekends will now be WEEKENDS again! No more study, no more worry about tests. This summer we will finally have their mom and my wife back again! Only thing is, she is so used to having no time to herself...she will not really know what to do with all of the time she will be getting to do anything she wants! BOOYA!

Today we are getting ready for the 2nd annual hayride at Binder park. It will be a great day for it. Pictures of the event to come later tonight.

Spring stays around this time!

Well after a freak cold spell in the middle of the month, here it is again...Spring! All of my flowers and plants that started budding and flowering early on in the month have wilted and lost their beauty due to the freeze that happened a couple weeks ago. This weekend the flowers are starting to bloom again and the wilted leaves are falling off to give way to the new leaves starting to pop. Yipee!

Deidra is in her final week and a half of school and she is in the zone! She has locked in on her target and is moving in for the kill! Although this week will undoubtedly be her hardest and most stressful so far, her reward is less than 2 weeks away. Honestly, I don't know what we will do with all of the extra time on our hands. It is going to be a great problem to have!

DenverDawg is COACH!

Last night I went to my first coach's meeting and got our equipment for the season. I have to admit I had butterflies! I am truly blessed to be the coach of not only my son but of my sisters boys. They are all best of friends and are looking forward to playing on the same team. The teams were all selected by the league this year so unfortunately I didn't get to pick my team name. To my surprise I was given my team roster with my team name in bold letters on the top of the roster: "Mets"! Now I am not a MLB Mets fan at all, but I got chills and flashbacks of my little league days with all my good friends that I grew up with: EJ, T, Zach and my best friend CJ. One season, we were the Mets. What a crazy and wonderful coincidence! Needless to say my son is stoked as well. I will need to give "Coach Johnson" up in my mile high hometown a ring a ding and get some practice pointers. This is my first year coaching baseball, and I have no idea what the drills should be. You would think that as long as I played the game and as much as I loved the game growing up I would have it easy as coach. Truth is, I have no clue how to coach baseball I just know how to play it. My dad will be assistant coach of the team and I'm sure he will help me a bunch. The son and dad duo! I'm sure I will take it on pretty smooth but I have butterflies none the less.

Spring is coming back!

Snow is on the way I hear for today and it will remain a bit chilly on Saturday however the weatherman promises the 60's on Sunday and then a slow rise into the 70's by late next week. Hopefully spring will stay around this time!

Bragging on my wife again!

So we got a letter in the mail today from Deidra's college. It simply states:

Congratulations!!

Deidra has been nominated as the Outstanding Student for the Physical Therapist Assistant program. Deidra will be recognized at the 2006-2007 Awards Ceremony. You and your family are invited to the Awards Ceremony.

Nuff said!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! I hope everyone has a great start to the spring! It's a bit cold lately...had to cover my plants from the frost. The weather channel shows cold nights for the first half of the week and cool nights thereafter. Looks like only one day may get to the 60's and no 70's in the near future. Oh well. Hang in there!

Deidra's Last Day as a state worker!!!

For those of you who know how long it has been for us...how long we have waited for the day when Deidra is officially done with college and how long we have waited for her to finally be done with her job as a state worker in CRID. She has made a countdown that you can view by clicking on the picture on the right side of this blog, by doing so you can keep count with us. The time is finally approaching and we are so excited that just typing about it gives me the chills. Anyhoo....check out the countdown. You can be sure that we will be throwing a bash to commemorate the event sometime this summer! I can't express how proud of her I am. I love you Deidra!

Not feeling so well today...

Not feeling so well today is an understatement. Last week I went 4 days without my usual dose of allergy medication, and when my weekly allergy shots where taken on Thursday by later that day I felt like I had been hit by a bus. I'm no longer sure that my symptoms are allergy related as I have other symptoms I usually don't get like a fever and chills and muscle aches and pains. Another reason I feel it is actually more than allergies is the fact that it seemed that every road test I went on last Friday was a sick kid. 2 of the kids I took out took off school cuz they where sick...but...decided to get their test taken since they where off anyway. It seems that they are so thick headed that they don't even care if they pass on their sickness to anyone else in a closed space as small as a car. They where coughing and sneezing as if they had no care in the world. Dumb asses. I told one of their moms that I appreciated the fact that they came in to give me their sickness to bring home to my family, and also stated that if not for people such as themselves, there would be little use for doctors. She giggled nervously. I didn't see the humor. On a good note...they failed the road test. Anyway, if I feel like this tomorrow morning I may take the day off. I may see how I feel on Monday, and stay home Tuesday though. We will see. I need some rest so I will be nogging out early tonight.
