6 years. Same feeling.

Can you believe it has been 6 years since our world was shaken? I remember exactly every detail of my drive to work that morning and the hours that followed.

I remember how quiet our sky's were that day and the next and how odd that was. It was almost as if I had stepped back into time when the ability to fly was only in our dreams.

It is sad that it takes things like this to remind us of how wonderful and how much of a privilege it is to be able to wake up next to the ones you love each day.

Cherish each day. Because you never know.

On a different note. Please keep NFL Buffalo Bills player Kevin Everett in your prayers along with his friends and family. Kevin Everett suffered a major cervical spine injury in last Sunday's game and underwent emergency surgery over the weekend. He was alert before undergoing the surgery and gave his consent with his mom at his side. Currently in a deeply sedated state Everett can't communicate with those who visit him in the hospital.

Broncos WIN first game!

Broncos win their first game of the season! It was a nail ripper to the very end. With less than 3 seconds on the clock and the net still raising behind the field goal posts as the time ticked down Jason Elam proves once again why its "good to be da king" of NFL field goal kickers. I am still shaking from the stress of the game so I will let "Denver Broncos.com" put it in their own words...

"Broncos Stun Bills at Last Second, 15-14"

By Andrew MasonDenverBroncos.com
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- It was a finish worthy of the histrionics of notoriously hyper play-by-play man Gus Johnson.
With the clock bleeding dry in the final seconds, the Broncos managed to complete a pass, exchange the offense for the field-goal unit and set Jason Elam for a 42-yard field goal that sliced through the uprights and the hearts of a stunned Ralph Wilson Stadium crowd, giving the Broncos a heart stopping 15-14 win on a soggy Sunday in western New York.
Until the stunning last few minutes -- which saw the Broncos execute a pair of fourth downs to resuscitate their desperate, last-gasp march -- the game played like a fight in a Rocky movie, with the teams exchanging haymakers throughout the afternoon.

What time is it?

Fantasy Football starts today! Early this morning, the chosen few entered the "war room" to draft our respected teams and continue our yearly tradition. I feel ok about my team. We will see. Those of you who know me know how much I love football. CJ, I added a link to the sign in for fantasy FB for easy access..I love this time of year! The air starts to get crisp in the mornings and coffee just tastes better. Time to get the basement ready for a makeover! On a different note:

Taylor's Team Pics

We had the kids pizza party last week and I took some pictures since the photographer for the league did not take team photo's this year. They turned out ok. I also made some baseball cards for the boys and sent them to the parents. I hope they like them. You can check out the baseball cards and the team pics by going to www.flickr.com/photos/gojcmets/ . There are some regular pics and the baseball cards are on the second page.

Welcome to the gun show!

Deidra and I have not been into many T.V. shows lately. We like to get into Survivor and I used to watch The Contender (with Sly) but lately nothing has really been something we both enjoy together. Sometime last summer we started watching Hogan Knows Best. At first glance you would think it was just a cheesy version of the Osbournes and I guess it kinda is, but without all the "bleep!" this and "bleep!" that's going on. After we started watching it we got hooked so now its Hogan Knows Best every chance we get. You got to love his shirt "Welcome to the Gun show!" that he wears. He is the man! For those of you who grew up in the 80's watching WWF, Hogan is someone you will always love.
Well, Deidra is getting ready for bed right now and is nervous as expected. Tomorrow is the first day of her new career! Our life is about to shift into a comfortable highway gear. No more grinding between first and third occasionally putting it in reverse. I have a feeling traffic is finally going our way. Next stop? We will see. Is that a light at the end of the tunnel? You better believe it!

hot week!

Last week it got to 106 while I was at work one day. That was terrible! They say that a cool down will take place this week dropping our temp to a bone chilling 89 degrees which translates to around the mid 90's with the heat index due to humidity in the miserable state! Well woopidy freakin doo da day. I am ready for the fall!!!

Science Center and Zoo trip!

For Taylor, Dylan and Evans Bday we planned on going to Six Flags but after finding out what the temp was going to be we decided to go to the St. Louis Science Center and then the zoo. We had a great time and got some good pics here are a few from the trip:

In the pics above, we just built the arch out of some blocks and after some good pics you can see that it started to fall... Oh well...fun stuff!

Taylor got munched at the Science Center by a T-Rex and Evan and Dylan look on in horror!

After a fun time at the Science Center we headed into the Zoo for a bit. Not too many people there due to the heat.

Deidra update: High Fives All Around!!!

Well as of last week, Deidra is done! After her final exam she put her job resume on the net and by the next day she had 8 calls for a job. After some thought, we both looked at the options and decided on a job at a hospital at the Lake of the Ozarks. Even though the drive will be 45 minutes one way, they made it worth her while. She signed the contract last week and starts Monday! I can now tell the Doctors that I don't have to donate my kidney and half my liver anymore. We will be able to pay the bills after all! WOO HOO!!!
