Ok, so its been like what...darn near half a year since last I posted. Well not quite, but its been a bit. Its been a whirlwind out here since we got here and now we are looking for a permanent residence....needless to say, we will NOT be buying a house just to get out of an apartment. It will have to be one that we either can see us living the rest of our lives in...or one that is nice enough to stay in at least until the kids grow up and out. Either way...its going to be our place for a long haul...and not just something to fix up and move out of. We are now both in jobs that we like and are living in a location that is not only beautiful, but safe. As we speak the kids are out on their bikes exploring the area on these things that we have come to find out are called "Side Walks". They are a great invention! These so called "Side Walks" are paved paths that are off to the side of roads and they are everywhere out here! In fact, if we decided to bike or walk to any place in this city....there is a way to get there using these things! Imagine a world full of these paths...people could actually get around without using their cars! Anyhow...I am back to what I would like to consider almost normal. I don't have trash for neighbors anymore and I have once again found time to pick my camera up. I will post more pics from here on out.
Both Deidra and I have had our moms and dads come out to see us so far and we had a really good visit with both. I wish it would have been in better weather for them but out here it is windy as the seasons change. Now that spring has officially set in, there are lighter breezes coming off the mountains in the evenings...but nothing that would blow your hat off. Snow on its way this Wednesday I hear ...well flurries possible but after that a warming trend. I believe this will be the last cold snap of the season so I will enjoy it. The grass is getting green out here and that is due to the snow that we have been lucky to have these last couple months.
Signing off for now, but will be on again soon.
Pray all is well with all of you.
Oh...and for those of you who would like to see a picture of what a "Side walk" is...I have posted the following pic for your viewing pleasure. They DO exist! When I was younger I read this book called "Where the Sidewalk Ends"....loved the book. A must read for anyone who likes little children poems and stories. However once I moved to Missouri...I actually found out where "The Sidewalk Ended"....the border of Colorado. I must warn you to be careful looking for more info on them though...its like taking the red pill that Neo took in the Matrix movie.
The day after Christmas, at noon in the year 2005 this blog was created. It started out as "Pikes Peak or Bust". We made a goal for a life change. Many people make that a life goal. Not too many of them succeed in reaching it. We did. This is a place where friends and family can come to see whats going on in our little family.

Hard to tell in this picture, but the snow is coming down! Looks like we are going to have a white Christmas! Also looks like it will be snowing ON Christmas! That is quite rare. Looks like Missouri has a good chance for a white Christmas as well which it needs. Not seen many at all in the years that we spent there.
We just got done watching "The Nativity Story" which is our annual movie tradition. If you have not seen it...I suggest you go out and purchase it without any hesitation.
I would like to wish each and everyone a wonderful Christmas!
Luke 2:1-14 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

DOOMSDAY EVE!
Welp!....Been nice! Guess by this time tomorrow night, we will all have gone up in a blaze of glory as the apocalypse pulls its dark shroud of death over our world. Weather forecast for the next 24 hours.....
Partly cloudy tomorrow morning with a 80% chance of falling asteroids after 10 am warming up to 5,897,000 degrees by the evening and cooling off to a crisp -890 degrees by midnight. Allergy alert....those with asthma will need to stay indoors as dogs and cats will spontaneously combust causing higher than normal pet dander levels.

Another year coming to a close.....
We just returned from our annual Branson Silver Dollar City Light Festival. It was a hard thing to accomplish this year due to the fact that Deidra has no PTO saved up from her new job as of yet and I just started my new job Monday. We bit our lips, rounded up the kids, hopped into the car and made a 12 hour journey to Missouri just to hang out for two full days and hop into the car for the 12 hour journey back to our new hometown. Twas quite the haul, but worth every minute to be able to see our families and enjoy the traditional holiday event that we have come to love and look forward to. Next year we should be ready to make the haul again and we be able to stay much longer. None the less, we are approaching Christmas and are gearing up for our first New Year in the mountains.
Snow on the way! Tonight I hear. Should reach Missouri next week in the form of a cloudy, rainy and icy day or two. Can't say I'll be missing that much.
For those of you star gazers out there....you will be happy to know that the "Geminids" will be blazing up the sky and it is supposed to be a doozy. You should be able to see 120 or more "falling stars" every hour on the peak night of December 13th! Click (HERE) to learn more. Also wanted to mention some pretty crazy news I found out. A HUGE comet is going to make its 1st known appearance to our little planet next year fall/winter. Apparently it is the biggest, brightest ever to have been seen historically and is going to be brighter than the moon in our sky as it passes by. Want to see what I am talking about I have included a link if you click (HERE) that will take you to a page that will go into details about this once in a lifetime extraordinary stellar event!
In other news: It appears that a local weather man mistakenly predicted a massive tornado in Oakland due to the sucking noises coming from that area...found out in fact that that was just the Raiders team...they SUCK! We beat the Raiders...again....no shocker here. I was a little confused that they were still even an NFL team. What do they call their home stadium again? Oh yea...the "Bung Hole". Anyway.......we used them to "pad the stats" so to speak...on to next week!
Go Broncos!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
We, as many of you know, start our holiday season at 6:00 am November 1st every year and this year we started at about 5:47 am because we just cant seem to get enough! Last night I prepared the home made stuffing that has been passed down to me that started with my grandparents....it is "goooOOD!" as "Uncle Eddy" from Griswolds Christmas Vacation would say. Deidra prepared the sweet potato souffle and both will be going in the oven soon! The turkey is all buttered and seasoned up and is in the roaster as we speak! Wine and sparkling grape juice is chilling in the fridge and the rolls are rising on the counter! Santa is on the sleigh in the parade in the background which means that the parade is coming to an end and the season has officially started and we are revving up our holiday motors to begin the Christmas season and let the joy of the season shine! This weekend we are off to Estes Park to do a bit of shopping and sight seeing. Next week we shall get ready for our annual Old Fashioned Silver Dollar City Christmas that we look forward to every year!
Happy Thanksgiving from your Rocky Mountain Family!

We made it!
We did it! Our goal has been achieved! Now it is time to make a new goal. Currently we are happy with our new mountain surroundings, but would love nothing more than to purchase a house. Deidra is very happy in her new job and I have a part time job unloading trucks. The part time job will finally give me the opportunity to go back to school and get my degree. This is something that we decided we would do several years ago. She went first...now its my turn. It is funny how much you want to find a way to go back into time and smack your younger self around for some of the decisions you made isn't it? Anyhow, it is never too late to start enjoying life the way you want to.
Here in the mountains, the leaves are turning as fall is now on top of us. The mornings here are crisp at 42-48 degrees and it warms up to the mid 80's by mid day only to drop into the 50's before bedtime. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR! As you can see by the pic above, the aspens are looking wonderful. At this point they are green/gold and getting brighter by the day. Taylor found a pretty good walking stick on our hike and we went to the store to get some sandpaper for him so he can turn it into a great one.
Well, its time for me to go get some things done. Ill post again soon. More pics to come and I will be periodically changing the look of this site. Deidra will also start posting soon and a Flickr link will be added to the right so that we can post all of our pictures. In order for you to be able to see those pics, you will need to join Flickr. It is free and many pics are on there already so get to it!
Have a great week!
